Momma said there'd be games like this, there'd be games like this, my momma said.....

Well, I nailed it. 15 point spread. Ooops.....just the wrong team won by 15. 

The Huskies just didn't have it and Notre Dame played so much better than any game I watched this year. They really played inspired basketball. That little freshman dynamo was just too much for UConn to handle in this game.

It didn't help that UConn did not shoot well from deep. And that vaunted UConn defense just  had no answer for the Notre Dame offense. 

I'm sure Paige is blaming herself for this loss. She had a terrible shooting game and her misses really hurt. But Geno said that after she smacked her face on the court, she just wasn't the same.

It was tight until it wasn't. UConn was up 3 with a little under two minutes to go in the third quarter when Notre Dame's Maddy Westbeld hit two killer three points to give Notre Dame the lead and the momemtum going into the fourth quarter. The Huskies tied it up in the first minute of the fourth quarter, but Notre Dame went on another run, this time 8-0. Bueckers had a three point play to close UConn to five points 68-63, but it was never closer and the Irish put the game away as UConn just couldn't score. Notre Dame finished the game on a 14-4 run.   
 
Sometimes you have to expect the unexpected. And boy was this unexpected.

Time to get ready for some Philly love at Villanova. Let's see how this team handles adversity after a great 13 game winning streak.

Milestone watch

• Aaliyah Edwards reached 1526 career points with her 10 points in the Marquette game. She needs 6 more points to tie Moriah Jefferson in 27th place.

• Aaliyah Edwards now has 845 rebounds with 12 against Marquette. That recently moved her ahead of Asjhia Jones (794), Barbara Turner (797), Kia Stokes (819), Kelly Faris (821), and both Jessica Moore and Leigh curl with 834. She is in sole possession of 14th place, and needs 63 more to catch Olivia Nelson-Ododa

• Nika Mühl had 556 assists after her 6 assists in the Marquette game. She is in sole possession of 8th place. She needs 3 more to tie Bria Hartley.
• Geno Auriemma now has 1197 wins and needs three more to reach the 1200 plateau.
