It's great to be back but it's been a late night so this is going to be a light blog. We got picked up by our friends Jon and Robin from the airport. Then out to dinner at our favorite place Wood-n-Fire!!!

It was an interesting week back in Connecticut but I can tell you I'm glad to be back in the warm weather!!

Straight from the Dog

On Wednesday, the big upset was No. 4 Baylor losing to Kansas. And not just losing but getting their butts kicked!!! The final was 87-66. It was tied at the half but the Jayhawks just put the hammer to the Lady Bears outscoring them 50-29.

Baylor was undefeated coming into this game and I'm sure they were feeling like they had this game in the bag. Maybe a little overconfident? They had been moving up the rankings steadily over the weeks. They started the season ranked 19th. They dropped to 21 after winning their one game. Huh?

They made a nice jump to 14 after beating then No. 4 Utah. Then to No. 13 after going 5-0. Like I said steady.

Up three more to No. 10 after winning three more games including Oregon.

Weeks 6, 7 and 8  saw them hold steady at the No. 10.  Then the good for them fortunes of the injury bug helped them win two games that put them in the position to win and move up. They beat No. 5 Texas in the first game that the Longhorns played without their star guard Rori Harmon and they followed that up with a win against No. 23 TCU who played their game without their star center Sedona Prince.

I'm not sure you could say we all should have seen this coming but maybe we could have seen it. They are a good team but.....not that good.

SPIDER STATS

Plus one for every assist block point rebound and steal. I don’t add extra for offensive rebounds as it already seems to favor the bigs. Minus one for every missed shot (2, 3 or foul), turnover or foul committed.

UConn 102, Providence 8.

Net positives/minutes played: Ashlynn 22/33, Paige 21/28, KK 20/30, Nika 18/33, Aaliyah 14/20, Ines 6/9, Ice 4/19, Amari 2/9, Qadence -8/19.

Scary: Providence beat Seton Hall, who beat #25 ranked unlv by 30. Geno coaching up a storm right to the end - love it. Paige +21 on an off night-ridiculous!

What a starting five! Go Huskies!! Can’t wait to play Notre Dame at Gampel.
