GO UCONN!!!!!

Only a few days left!!
Naismith fan voting has started. You can vote once a day. Paige and Aaliyah are on the ballot.

We have a few days to decompress after that tough win over Syracuse. I'm sure the team is feeling really good about themselves and they should.
While some fans have given up on Ice after her tough outing against the Orange, I'm hopeful we will see a bounceback game against Duke.
Of course, I'm working on putting together the UConn/Duke Pregame Report. Hopefully by Thursday.

Spider has some great stats about the Naismith Award nominees. He listed 12 categories for Clark, Brink, Watkins and Bueckers. He didn't give a score for each player and just let your eyes tell you who is playing the best. But here is Doggy's scoring system. 4 points for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd and 1 for 4th. Most points is better!!
Bueckers - 44
Clark - 30
Brink - 27
Watkins - 18
It's clear Paige has been the best player in the post season. It's not even close.
I thought that Spider was missing a few categories I would like to see so I looked it up.
FG%: Bueckers 53.9, Brink 40.2, Clark 39.8, Watkins 34.7
3PT%: Bueckers 44.1, Brink 30.8, Clark 29.2, Watkins 20.7
FT%: Clark 90.7, Watkins 79.2, Bueckers 75.0, Brink 47.3
Add in these three categories and Paige's lead expands.
Bueckers - 54
Clark - 38
Brink - 34
Watkins - 23
Watkins is really talented but inefficient. And Brink, at 6'4", is shooting 40%? Not good.
It's probably already decided for Clark, but the winner shouldn't be shooting 29% on threes for all the times she shoots it.
Paige Bueckers, hands down!!

Sustained Excellence
Starting in 1994, exactly one team – UConn — has won its opening game to advance to the round of 32. While being invited to the tournament is an honor, winning games is a better measure of success. No disrespect intended to the weaker conferences where an upset in a conference tournament might send a weak team to the conference tournament. The members of that team have every right to be proud of their achievement, but I’m looking to discuss a tougher standard. Making the tournament and winning games is that tougher standard.
UConn has now won in the round of 32, sending the Huskies to the sweet 16 for the 30th consecutive year (excluding of course 2020 when there was no tournament). Ever since the tournament expanded to 64 or more teams, UConn has made the sweet 16. No other school can make that claim.
In a discussion of sustained excellence, it is only fair to point out that Tennessee also has an impressive claim — they are the only team to have earned an invitation to every single tournament since the NCAA started managing the tournaments in 1982.

Plus one for every assist block point rebound and steal. I don’t add extra for offensive rebounds as it already seems to favor the bigs. Minus one for every missed shot (2, 3 or foul), turnover or foul committed.
