Congrats to Christyn Williams on winning the Naismith High School POY award. She truly deserves this great honor.

So many honors already for this young woman. She also won the WBCA High School POY award and was names a McD's all-American. She was also named to the Jordan All-Star game. I'm sure there will be more platitudes as well.

Three of the last four Naismith award winners will be on UConn's roster next season. Senior Katie Lou Samuelson, Sophomore Megan Walker and now Williams.

Certainly Katie Lou has lived up to her billing. She will be a two time AA and a possible POY candidate. And she will be back next season.

I know that many folks are disappointed in how Walker has performed this season. It's rare that a great player like Megan will be so tentative for the entire season. Certainly on UConn's team...it has rarely happened. However, no one is as disappointed as Walker herself. I'll make a big prediction and say that she make a HUGE sophomore jump next year and gets 22-25 minutes and scores in double digits. She is just too talented to fail.

Williams is cut from a different cloth as Walker. This young lady is ultra confident. I fully expect her to come in and do something rare for a freshman. Compete for a starting position, mostly with Walker for that fifth spot along side Samuelson, Collier, Dangerfield and Stevens. Yes, that is another prediction!

By now, all UConn fans know that the Huskies have 4 current players who have scored more than 1,500 points each. In fact, together Katie Lou, Kia, Gabby, and Napheesa have 6,268 points. But, those four are also brilliant passers. This season, Gabby already has 162 assists and Pheesa and Katie Lou have 102 and 100 respectively. Kia trails those three with 90 assists. Odds are all four will finish the season with over 100 assists each.

For her career, Gabby is now 15th All-time on Uconn's assist list with 462. Kia is 16th with 430 career dimes. Here are the UConn greats that are next for Gabby and Kia to pass:

11. Kelly Faris (525)
12. Tiffany Hayes (483)
13. Ketia Swanier (479)
14. Svetlana Abrosimova (473)
15. Gabby Williams (462)
16. Kia Nurse  (430)
KLS and Pheesa are no slouches on the assist front either. Katie Lou has exactly 300 assists while Pheesa has 219. So, when the Core Four take the floor, in addition to 6,268 points, they have a combined 1,411 assits. Talk about balance..!!

If I read one more post about how poorly Napheesa is doing this season, I'm going to barf on my Nikes.  (puke)

Here are the facts/stats:

1. This season Pheesa is shooting 56.5% from all shots from the field. That includes three-point shots.
2. Her freshman year, she shot 53.3% from the field.
3. Her career average shooting is 60.98%.
4. Stewie's worst shooting average was her sophomore year at 49.7%.
5. Stewie's career average at UConn for shooting from the field was 53%.

So, Stewie had a worse year shooting % and has a lower career average shooting %. As I remember, things worked out for Stewie and she kept her scholarship. Nothing is wrong with Napheesa... 8-)

And just for comparison, A'ja Wilson is shooting 55.0% from the field this season. Napheesa is at 56.5%. Can you say NPOY...? 8-)

Go Huskies..!!
