"If St. Francis takes that many shots against UConn, the Huskies could score more than 120 points."
Yep, that is what I posted about the UConn/St. Francis game two days ago. Looks like St. Francis did exactly that, take that many shots. And UConn did score more than 120 points.
This game was something hard to believe. I don't think I've ever seen a team just decide to run the entire game with UConn. If Geno didn't slow them down some in the second half, they would have scored 160 points.
Ya gotta love the St. Francis coach - "There was only one chance that we would have had to come close in this game and that was going to be to shoot a million 3s and hope that they go in. So we shot a million 3s and we didn't make them."
They took 57 threes in this game. FIFTY SEVEN! That is just a ridiculous amount.
Here are the highlights of this game. Usually the video is only 5-6 minutes long. This one is over 8. I guess that mean there were more highlights to show...lol.
Here is Geno's post game presser.
And Katie Lou's Post game interview
And Napheesa's
And now Stevens.
And even Megan got into the action!
Gabby has something to say!
And to top it off, Kia!!!
Here is the St. Francis Post Game Presser
So many great performances, it's hard to pick just a few out, but I'll try.
Three double-doubles, with 18 points and 10 assists for Samuelson, 15 points and 10 rebounds for Nurse and 26 points and 10 rebounds for Stevens.
Amazingly, 3 other players were just short of a double-double. Collier had 25 points and 9 assists, Williams had 16 points and 9 rebounds, and Walker had 19 points and 8 rebounds.
I believe that the 9 assists for Collier and 10 rebounds for Nurse were career highs.
UConn played all ten available players double digit minutes.
I know it was against St. Francis, but it was great to see Megan Walker have such a nice game. She played 25 minutes, and went 3-3 on threes. Can she continue her great play against Quinnipiac? I hope so!

It was a bad day to be a 6 seed.
South Florida was hammered by 11 seed Buffalo 102-79. You have to believe that fatigue finally caught up to the Bulls with 4 starters playing almost 40 minutes in every game the last few weeks. Buffalo's Ciarra Dillard went "Laska" on USF, scoring 36 points and hitting 7-11 three pointers. I feel badly for a fellow AAC team and a nice guy like Jose Fernandez.
No. 11 Central Michigan took out LSU 78-69 in a game that LSU just couldn't get over the hump. The supposed tough SEC team was hammered on the boards, 40-27 and shot like a typical SEC team going 2-14 on threes.
The last 6 seed to go down was Iowa, who lost to 11 seed Creighton. Creighton came into this game with only 18 wins and 12 losses, yet they controlled Iowa throughout the game. One more power 5 team going down.
In the biggest upset by seeding, No. 5 Missouri lost to No. 12 Florida Gulf Coast. The Tigers had a few signature wins, but I've been saying all season that they were overrated. I was right. Another SEC team is eliminated.
I know that the 8-9 games are usually a toss up so it's hard to call them upsets, but No. 9 Quinnipiac beat up on Miami 86-72 with a huge 33 point fourth quarter. This puts them right in the buzz saw of the UConn juggernaut. And in another 8-9 "upset" Oklahoma State destroyed Syracuse by 27 points, 84-57. I'm always happy when the Orange lose and bowing out in the first round of the tournament is extra special.

Some good 2nd round games on Sunday.
I love the 3 Tennessee/6 Oregon State matchup. Both teams played well in their first round wins. OSU is a tough team and I am hopeful for an upset and the Lady Vols are sent home.
5 DePaul vs 4 Texas A&M should be a fun matchup as well. Could be a high scoring affair and a lot will depend on DePaul being able to slow down the freshman sensation, Chennedy Carter.
10 Virginia is on a roll and has shown they can play good teams really tough. 2 South Carolina has shown they can be vulnerable against the right defensive matchup. Wilson has to stay out of foul trouble.
