From David in Naples

Based on her 9-11 shooting performance against UCF, Natalie Butler is now making 62.5% of her shots from the field. UConn fans are particularly happy she is hitting mid range jumpers and both right & left handed layups. Gabby was right behind Butler with her own 9-11 night vs UCF. She is now making shots at a 61.5% rate. Napheesa Collier was only 7-10 vs UCF and is now 49-95 from inside the arc. That is 51.6%.

But Butler does not have the best shooting percentage on the team. Looking just at Stewie's shots inside 3 pt range, shows a 63.1% accuracy rate. It helps to be 6'4" with long arms when trying to make layups..!  Morgan Tuck also has great moves around the basket, but she is "only" hitting 59.4% of her non-3 pt shots. But the best shooter from inside the 3 pt arc is not the tallest player on the Huskies. In fact, it is the smallest, Moriah Jefferson. MoJeff makes an amazing 67.1% of her attempts from inside the arc. She also beats out Katie Lou, shooting 64.8% on her shots from inside the arc.

Opponents shoot 35.2% against UConn inside the arc. The Huskies answer with more than a half dozen players who can score at between 51% - 67%. How do you cover all those great players...? 8-)

Courtney Ekmark used a European Drop Step to score against Central Florida. Here is the link. Sorry ESPN has a commercial. What a great move and finish with her left hand. So, why is this in the "What the ????" section? Well, I found this on one of the message boards and I just couldn't believe what turn the conversation took. Let me share -

First this winner about Kia Nurse - "Just another stellar offensive game by Nurse. Just keeps laying brick after brick. I don't get it. Misses from 3, misses layups, gets out of control dribbling too far under the hoop and then throws up some garbage and tries to take out a few defenders, BUT continues to start and play minute after minute."

If you have been reading my analysis before and after each game you probably have seen my mentioning of her shooting slump. But my observation is that in spite of her shooting issues, she hasn't let the rest of her game suffer. Her defense is terrific and she does a nice job distributing the ball. The implication that she is charging in out of control is just bullshit.

Here is one about Courtney - " it seems that Saniya for some reason won't pass her the ball when she is in position to shoot. She will have to be more aggressive about creating her shot."

Yeah, Chong doesn't pass to Courtney. Of course she does this on purpose....lol. What drugs are these people taking?

And believe it or not, here is the response from the moron who posted about Nurse - "I see things just the other way around. The past several games Ekmark would not pass Chong the ball even when she was the point. Seem these 2 are a little chippy towards each other. We are looking through different colored glasses but both seeing the same thing."

Yes. It's true. Chong and Ekmark don't like each other. So they don't pass to each other. It's amazing that Geno hasn't seen it when these two put glue on the bottom of each others sneakers.

Seriously, what is wrong with these people that they would take the few minutes Chong and Ekmark are on the court together and find issues that aren't there and then post it on a message board for everyone to see.

Mark Twain said it best "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."
