UConn defeated Tulsa Wednesday night, 95-35 in a game that really gave UConn fans a glimpse is the future.
Looks to me that Saniya is applying for the job of starting point guard next year and she I think she will win the job. What a great performance by the Junior. In a season high 29 minutes she scored a season high 18 points. Her 4-8 performance on three pointers was something UConn really needed to see. She added 4 assists and 4 rebounds. She looked confident and really up to the challenge.
Another player that played well was Katie Lou Samuelson. She made the most of her minutes hitting 4-6 threes. But more importantly she added 5 assists and was aggressive with the ball and off the ball. Another confidence building for a UConn player that really needed it.
In her 14 minutes, Butler was also very effective. She demands a lot of attention from the other team when she posts up so hard in the paint. The guards don't always get her the ball but it creates opportunities for the other players. And when they do get the ball to her, she knows what to do with it. 6 points and 6 rebounds is a good follow up game to her first outing.

Moriah Jefferson played in every UConn game for the last 3 seasons, starting the last 79. This year, she started all 11 games. Missing the Houston game brings that 129 game streak to an end. No player currently on the roster has appeared in every game the past 3+ seasons.Get better MoJeff..!!

Will this game finally stop the fans that find the need to worry about UConn's three point shooting defense?
UConn has a terrible percentage with has them at close to 300th in the country before this game.
But stats are funny, they don't always tell the entire story.
Here are the three point defensive efforts this season.
Ohio State - 3/19
Kansas State - 10/31
Nebraska - 4/16
Chatanooga - 4/20
DePaul - 13/29
Notre Dame - 13/20
Colgate - 9/19 (one player hit 7/8)
Florida State - 3/9
LSU - 1/6
Maryland - 8/21
Cincinnati - 5/23
Tulsa - 2/17
Just look at the games before the bolded games and after the bolded games.
In the first 4 games UConn allowed 21/86 for 24.4%.
In the next 3 games UConn allowed 35/68 for 51.5%
In the next 5 games UConn allowed 19/76 for 25%
Now tell me, which to you think is the outlier?
Right now UConn's percentage is now 32.6 with moved them closer to 200 in the rankings. I'm pretty sure that will continue to improve, especially against the weaker AAC schedule.
So, please, can the fans and announcers just stop with the complaints?
