Image result for can they both lose

Even a cat can be right once in a while!!

A fun game tonight between Tennessee and Notre Dame. Not fun because there was such good basketball. Fun because it's always fun when a team you dislike loses. And with these two teams, that outcome is guaranteed!!

That being said, one of the teams I dislike will win as well. Bummer. Can't they both lose??

At this point Tennessee appears to be the better team.

At the point of me releasing this blog, they were up big in the third quarter.  Rennia Davis was a one woman show with 18 of the 36 points in the first half. And she hit 3 more threes early in the third quarter and had 27 points to carry the Vols to a 60-47 lead.

In the fourth quarter ND was able to cut the lead to 9, but Tennessee put the game away at the foul line winning 74-63.

A good win for the Lady Vols, but 28 turnovers will lose more times than it won't.

Notre Dame was decimated by graduation and then injuries. They should be out of the top 25 soon.

Image result for It's just not that difficult
Sometimes I am hard on the posts I read on the UConn message boards. It's difficult to hold back when I see a really dumb post. Here is one I just can't pass by.

After the UConn/California game, it was clear that outside of the "Core Four" of this version on UConn, the other three players that saw minutes UConn struggled to get points in this game.

So of course there was lots of angst from the fans concerned about that. I get that. But someone started a thread that said "Where do you think we can get another 15 points".

On face value, that's not so bad. But think about it. The three players that saw minutes in this game had 0,1 and 1 points. Does anyone in their right mind think that these three players can't score 5 points each? 15 points between them? Just taking more shots might do it.

Does that poster think that these three players will average 1 point or less this season? I mean, how can you correlate one game into an entire season? Or even the next game.

Ok, maybe I am looking for something to write about. Maybe. But I might have a point here anyway!

Image result for moron alert

Tennessee fans just can't get over the fact that UConn is now better historically than the Tennessee program.  They look for anything to push shade on the Huskies and Geno. Here is a back and forth on the Tennessee board.

Tennessee Fan 1 - I noticed that a UConn Site poster said Breanna Stewart “has always been the closer,” regarding her outstanding record in convincing recruits to commit to Connecticut. Cute. (Also an NCAA recruiting violation)

UConn Fan 1 - Heading down that road again? Some anonymous fan forum posts something they may or may not know anything about and suddenly an NCAA violation occurred. Next thing we hear it will be Stewart buying her a house.

Tennessee Fan - If she’s actively recruiting for Connecticut, that’s a violation.

UConn Fan 2 - Yeah, she’s not. But you probably knew that.

Tennessee Fan 1 - truth is, neither of us knows what she’s saying to those players whenever she shows up when recruits are on campus for visits. While we don’t know that she’s asking them to attend Connecticut, we also don’t know that she’s not. Frankly, I simply don’t trust Connecticut to comply with NCAA rules.

Tennessee Fan 2 (UConn Defender)- Same could be said for Tennessee. Parker was on campus a few weeks ago with recruits on campus.

Tennessee Fan 1 - Of course! But only one of the two programs has a reputation for shady recruiting tactics. And it ain’t Tennessee.

UConn Fan 1 - Yes, because they have had so many recruiting violations.

Tennessee Fan 1 - Just because a program hasn’t been nailed for recruiting violations it doesn’t mean they haven’t been getting away with committing them. Only a few times ever has a major D1 football or basketball program been investigated for, found guilty of, and paid the price for, NCAA recruiting violations, yet we all know they happen all the time. Every day. Money for players. Businesses for players’ parents. Cars for both. Pocket money from boosters. Just because few ever get caught, it doesn't mean it doesn’t happen.

UConn Fan 1 - So not true. A few times? 96 Division I colleges violated major NCAA rules in last decade

Tennessee Fan 1 - So 96 is a lot to you? Fewer than 10 a year? Out of all the rampant cheating that goes on? lol!!! Look, I understand why you don’t want to believe that your guy is a cheater. I wouldn’t want people thinking my people are cheaters. I’m just fortunate that none of my people have the reputation for doing it that your guy does. I know that hurts. Sorry. (Not sorry.)

At this point the conversation ended. I think the UConn fan made his point and the Tennessee fan is just an idiot.

Image result for stat of the day

By David in Naples!!!!!

The South Carolina vs Maryland game was ugly to watch. Maryland committed 23 personal fouls and only made 22 baskets. Guard Brea Beal for South Carolina was 0-6 from the field, but went to the foul line 12 times, making 8. Why would a team keep fouling a player having a bad shooting day? When the other team has a player who can't make a shot, don't put her on the charity stripe 12 times.
