I'm not sure any team can win when they only score two points in the opening quarter. And that is exactly what UConn did against No. 1 South Carolina.
They missed jumpers, layups, three point shots. You name it, they missed it.
It doesn't matter what happened the rest of the game. It was another slow start against a quality opponent. And from what I've seen, South Carolina is more than just a quality opponent.
It just looks like they played scared and the crowd and situation just got to them. I would use their youth (2 freshmen and 2 sophs in the 6 player rotation) but South Carolina starts three freshmen, so that is just a bogus excuse.
It's now apparent that this version of the UConn team is going to struggle to get to the Final Four. They should breeze through the weak AAC (although USF twice could be an issue) and the first two rounds of the tournament, but after that, what happens is anybody's guess.
So, fans, take a deep breath, watch them continue to try to improve and keep the faith.

The Connecticut Sun traded Morgan Tuck and the No. 11 pick in the 2020 draft to the Seattle Storm for the No. 7 pick in the draft.
This gets Breanna Stewart and Tuck back together. I'm hoping this rejuvenates Morgan's career. She has been stagnant with the Sun with her minutes and scoring going down in each of her four seasons. Maybe playing with someone so familiar like Stewart might get her going. I sure hope so. And with four UConn players on the Storm roster, they are a team that I can really root for.

How does a team like UConn score 2 points in the 1st quarter of a regular season game..?? Well, first you shoot 1-16 from the field and miss both your free throws. But why? Nerves, just bad luck or great defense by South Carolina?
It can’t be S.C.’s defense because the Huskies scored 21 in the 2nd period. It must be nerves and bad luck. No, just bad shooting. For the game Makurat went 0-5. Christyn was almost as bad at 2-12. Megan was 0-4 from three. Aubrey off the bench scored 2 points. Bad play also explains 15 turnovers. Maybe call it poor ball handling, but it is still sloppy play.
UConn scheduled the #1, #2 and #3 teams in the country. (Baylor, Oregon and S.C.) they lost to all three, badly. That is just the way it is...
Burn the game tape and look ahead.
