From my friend Madison

Well, that went exactly as I expected.

I expected Anna to start and now will finish the season as a starter.
I expected UConn to win by 40+ and only a basket by Memphis last in the game made it 39.
I expected Walker to rebound from her bad game and she did with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
I expected Nelson-Ododa to have a good game against the Memphis center and she did with 19 points on 9-9 shooting and 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks.
I expected Williams to bounce back as well and she did going 4-6 on threes in scoring 20 points.

I just expected a much better game based on reports talking about how well the team was practicing. And UConn sure did that with 31 assists on 38 baskets. They shot 59.4% from the field and 45.8% on threes. Amazing numbers.

Not much more to say on this game. It's now on to Monday and the big game against No. 1 South Carolina. I'm hoping and believing UConn will play much better than they did against Oregon and Baylor. They are NOT as bad as some UConn fans seem to believe.

GO HUSKIES!!

Ok, time for a little DoggyDaddy vent.

I made the mistake of visiting the main UConn message board. I read a great post from a great fan extolling the virtues of UConn's performance against Memphis. He hit all the high points similar to what I wrote about the game. I knew what was coming next.

Post after post after post reminding that positive poster that this great game was against a weak opponent that was playing short handed. It's so annoying to me that fans can't just enjoy the game, appreciate how well the team did and how that is good for them going forward. Especially with South Carolina coming up.

I've been told that it's just being critical and a realist with the criticisms about the team.

Sorry, but now is the time the team needs all the positive reinforcement that they can get. Enough with the negative comments. And yes,  nitpicking at specific flaws IS negative, not realistic.

One more for good measure......GO HUSKIES!!!

No. 3 Oregon just hammered No. 12 Arizona 85-52 in a game that wasn't even that close.

The best player in WCBB, Sabrina Ionescu, had another triple double. I have actually lost count, but let's just say she extended her college basketball record. Amazing.

I'd like to point out how badly this Oregon team beat highly ranked Arizona and maybe, just maybe, people will realize how good the Ducks are and that the UConn loss was just not that surprising.

And yes, I'll pick UConn over Oregon if they meet again. It's just how I roll...lol.

By David in Naples!!!!

Louisville lost to Florida State last night, and that really complicates the debate about who are the best four teams. I say four, not five or six because everything is about the four #1 seeds in the NCAA tournament. Being seeded a #2 or #3 in the NCAAs makes the Final Four infinitely harder to reach. Consider the current top four teams:

1. South Carolina - 1 loss, but to #17 Indiana (who lost to power houses Iowa and Northwestern, among others)
2. Baylor - 1 loss, but at least it was to South Carolina, plus BU was missing Cox.
3. Oregon - 2 loses, but both head scratchers, Louisville and Arizona State (16-6)
4. UConn - 2 loses to #1 and #3, chance to beat #1 Monday

Now consider the next four:
5. Louisville - 2 loses, both lousy, to Ohio State (13-9) and #17 Florida State
6. Stanford - 2 loses, one bad (Texas) the other to Oregon. But, they play Oregon, UCLA, O. State again...
7. N.C. State - 1 loss, but really bad, to Univ. North Carolina (16-7). Plus they play Louisville next week.
8. Miss. State - 3 loses, S.C., Stanford and a bad one to West Virginia. Not a threat to reach top 4.

UConn's hopes for a #1 come down to beating S.C and not having a dumb loss in AAC. Louisville can help the Huskies by beating N.S. State. Oregon and Stanford will beat each other and/or get beat by other Pac 12 teams. Baylor probably remains 1 or 2.

Go Huskies..!!
