Image result for Florida vacation

I have to admit, it's a lot harder to write this blog every night while I'm in Florida. At home my schedule is a little more uhhh......sedentary???  Here we are always doing something and getting back to the condo later than I like to write. But I trudge on...!!!

Well, the latest Top 25 came out and when I said yesterday that the pollsters would have some trouble this week, I wasn't wrong.

UConn, for the first time since 2007, was out of the Top 25. By all the articles on this, you'd think they dropped way down, but they are No. 6. That was 253 consecutive weeks.

What I find amazing is that while it's been rare that teams have moved 4 spots in a week, it's even rarer for two teams in the top ten to do that. And that is exactly what happened this week.

Stanford and Louisville moved from 8th an 9th to the 4th and 5th spots, leapfrogging UConn in the process and pushing the Huskies to No. 6.

So what did Stanford do to pass UConn? They did go 2-0 for the week. They must have beat some terrific teams to deserve that jump. Well, they beat 12-13 Utah and then they were lucky to beat 15-10 Colorado on a 40 foot prayer with no time on the clock. Seriously? I can see them passing NC State, who lost two games last week and Mississippi State, who also lost. But UConn losing to the No. 1 team?

How about Louisville. It looks to me that the voters just completely dropped the week before from their memories. Louisville did beat NC State, but the win over Notre Dame is a real meh. And the week before? They lost to a struggling FSU and an unranked Syracuse team.

Maybe Stanford deserves to be ahead of UConn. Maybe. But Louisville?

That win of theirs over Oregon has to be a big factor in the votes they receive and it should. But it appears that bad losses don't have as much as an impact. UConn has NO bad losses. Louisville has two.

This will all change over the next few weeks before the NCAA tournament starts. Stanford has to play No. 3 Oregon, No. 15 Oregon State, No. 11 Arizona and No. 21 Arizona State. They could lose 1-3 of these. Then there is the PAC 12 Tournament where they will have to play probably two more of these ranked teams.

Louisville finishes the season with four ACC cupcakes, and I'm not impressed with the rest of the ACC and I'm not sure anyone will beat Louisville in their tournament.

My guess is that both UConn and Louisville win out and Stanford loses a couple of games to drop out of that 4th spot to a more reasonable 8 or 9.

And whatever you do, don't bet on anything I said.

Image result for dumber than dumb

I love perusing the message boards. I find a lot of the recruiting info I post there, including the many videos. It's appreciated. But there is nothing like a good old fashion moronic post and boy, is this one of those. In what was sure to elicit a ton of repsonses, here is a post from someone who clearly doesn't have a clue about UConn.

"My starting five for next year will be Liv, Aubrey, Mir, Aaliyah & Paige with an emphasis on defense, rebounding, hustle and attitude, i.e. Celtics basketball with Liv playing the role of Bill Russell. Lots of scoring in transition via steals and traps. The game plan is to hold the opponent to 40 points while the Huskies score 60, eh? This lineup renders the opponents 3-point shooting to moot as Aubrey, Mir et al extend our half-court defense out to the arc [and beyond] while Liv protects against layups ... exciting!"

So, no Walker, your leading scorer and rebounder, no Williams, a two year starter. You start three freshmen. You don't start Transfer Westbrook, who if healthy could be an AA.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Good thing this guy is out of his.

Image result for stats don't lie

By David in Naples!!!!

UConn's last two baskets in their victory against USF were three-point shots. The first was by Crystal Dangerfield, her first three of the day. The 2nd was by either Megan or Christyn. I watched the game and Christyn clearly took the shot. Even the announcer said her name. I mean, she is left handed and wears her hair up like a mushroom. Not much chance to mistake her for Megan. But the official scorer put Megan. ESPN's stats for the game had Megan. Even UConn's web site has Megan making that three.

I watched the replay to be sure, and it is definitely Christyn taking the shot at the 1:24 minute mark of the 4th period, and making it. I want this changed and it may take a grass roots effort by loyal UConn fans to right this injustice. Makes me wonder how many other screw ups are impacting my stats. Heck, this part of Doggy's effort is called Stats Don't Lie..!!  At least until yesterday they didn't...!!  8-)

Go Huskies..!!
