Well, the math works. UConn is now 30-0 against South Florida after beatin the Bulls 67-47 with exactly 1/3 of those being a 20 points or less margin of victory for the Huskies.
My neck is killing me from that first half from shaking my head over and over. This was the UConn team that everyone is afraid will show up in an elimination game in the NCAA tournament and end the Huskies season. Would this be the game that Jose finally beats UConn and ends their winning streak against the Bulls and in AAC conference play?
It was a tale of two halves as UConn came out like a Final Four contender in the second half. After going 10-29 in scoring 25 points in the first half they were 18-29 in scoring 42 points in the second half. Their defense was much better as well. After starting out 5-6 on threes to take their early lead in the first quarter, they were 1-12 for the remainder of the game. And after scoring 29 points in the first half they scored only 18 points in the second half and only 6 points in the fourth quarter.
You could blame the long layoff between games for the slow start. But it's been a problem all season. They need to find a way to get off quickly. It's going to bite them in the butt eventually.
There were two 1/2 stars in this game. Megan Walker led the Huskies in scoring with 21 points on 8-12 shooting. This was a good game for Olivia Nelson-Ododa. She was aggressive around the basket finishing strong on a few baskets. She score 20 points on 9-12 shooting and had 8 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 steals. And along with Dangerfield and Williams, she played the entire 40 minutes. The 1/2 star goes to freshman Aubrey Griffin, who's second half defensive effort of five steals helped propel UConn to their victory.
It was probably their toughest remaining game (maybe UCF rematch?) and even with the bad first half, it was eventually an easy 20 point win.
Up next is Tulane on Wednesday, who is fighting for second place in the conference.
Enjoy the USF post game interivew. Jose is always interesting. And their kids are delightful. You can't tell they lost this game.

It was Upset Sunday in WCBB with four losses for Top 25 teams. There were two in the top 6 as well.
In a game that will help UConn's RPI, No. 20 Indiana lost to Ohio State 80-76. Any win by a team that UConn beat helps! Thanks Buckeyes.
No. 14 Florida State lost to Duke 66-64 in a game that will lower FSU's seeding. Not a good loss for the Seminoles.
No. 6 Mississippi State lost to No. 14 Kentucky 73-62. Not a shocking outcome. I personally don't think that Mississippi State is that good.
Finally, No. 4 NC State lost to Georgia Tech 65-61. This is the Wolf Pack's second loss this week and it might move them out of the top ten.
The AP voter's job just got more difficult.

UConn literally stole today’s 20 point victory over USF. The Huskies totaled 17 steals, including 5 by defensive player of the game, Aubrey Griffin. Griffin hounded USF’s leading scorer, Pinzan into a 3-12 shooting 2nd half. In the half, Pinzan went 1-5 from deep and turned the ball over 4 times. USF scored 18 2nd half points after getting 19 in just the 1st period.
Other highlights of the game included Olivia shooting 9-12 or 75% for her 20 points, UConn forcing 22 total turnovers and USF making only 2 of their last 14 three point shots. After starting 4-4 from three, the Bulls went stone cold.
One bad note for UConn, their guards (Crystal, Christyn and Anna) went a combined 7-27 shooting. Their poor production included going 1-8 from deep.
No.
Go Huskies..!!
