Yes, it's time for the continuing adventures of cupcake wars!!!
Starring in Wednesday's schedule is No. 7 Baylor and No. 15 Maryland. Neither of these teams are strangers to this show. In fact, they are regulars.
In the opening show, No. 7 Baylor put the hammer to now 3-7 Arkansas State 111-43. The Red Wolves would be eligible for an UGGY Award, but I don't have the heart to pile on. Baylor never let up, and they even left in Juicy Landrum late in the game to give her the opportunity to set the NCAA record with 14 made threes. A great record, but I'd put an asterisk on that one. The Lady Bears were up over 50 points and here is the sequence for setting the record.
1. With 3:02 left in the game she makes a 3 pointer.
2. With 2:23 on the clock she misses a 3 pointer.
3. With 2:01 on the clock she makes a 3 pointer.
Tsk Tsk.....
In the second cupcake show of the day, No. 15 Maryland put a hurting on Georgia State 114-41. The Terps forced 31 turnovers. I didn't see the game but knowing Coach Frese, I'm pretty sure she kept the defensive pressure on for the entire game.
The big question is why do these teams (who are known for it) schedule such weak opponents. It's really embarrassing for WCBB. And I can't imagine it does anything for their teams.
