In games of interest, well, I'm still interested anyway, No. 23 Tennessee put the hammer to Portland State 88-61. The Lady Vol fans are going nuts about this win. The 27 point Stanford loss is way back in the rear view mirror. Hey, good for them. It was against RPI 154, two better than the 156 that Tennessee is holding on to. That is actually the third best team they have played RPI wise. Tennessee always does really well against teams they can be way more athletic then and can bully. They have to more games they should win before their next challenge against Kentucky. Maybe this 27 point win will negate their 27 point loss and they stay in the rankings? that would be crazy.

Notre Dame took one step closer to being .500 against with a big win against Guelph University taking down the Gryphons. Guelph is a comprehensive public research university in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Their claim to fame is that their ranking in veterinary medicine. It's a really strange game to schedule for McGraw and Notre Dame. No surprise, they won this game 92-61.

No. 3 Oregon had an easy time against Kansas State, winning 89-51. In what seems to be a regular occurance, Sabrina Ionescu had her 21st career triple-double, extending her college basketball record. In this one she had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Notre Dame transfer Erin Boley was 4-5 on threes and scored 18 points. You think the Irish could use her this season?

No. 22 West Virginia beat No. 19 Michigan State 63-57 in the only upset Saturday. The Spartans had their second loss in two days in the Florida Sunshine Classic. They lost the night before to unranked Syracuse. I would think that they will be leaving the top 25, making a possible reason for Tennessee to stay in the top 25. We will find out Monday!

Maybe this game will change in the second half, but No. 14 Kentucky and unranked California are tied 22-22 at the half. Really. It's a great candidate for an UGGY award for sure. It's so bad, I'll share some preliminary stats.

As Doggy detailed in his pre-game report, UConn’s defense has one main job against Oklahoma. Keep Taylor Robertson from taking easy 3 point shots. Of her 132 shots, 114 have been threes. She has made 50% of those shots. She is deadly. But, guard her tight and she does little else. Assist are only at 20 in 11 games. Free throws = just 32. Rebounds = 30. Her job is to shoot, period.

Robertson plays 35.7 minutes per game. Make her run and run to get open. Cover her and deny the ball. She averages 19.5 points every game. Cut that total in half and Oklahoma will suffer and sputter.
