Another beautiful day in Florida. I got to have lunch with my Cousin Paul and his wife Eileen. He has been having some health issues and it's great to see him out and about.
My son took this picture as I fell asleep blogging!!! Notice the hand on the mouse.
No, they are not my cigarettes. I quit 17 years ago!!!

It's hard to believe this could happen but just in case, here is my UConn/Notre Dame Post Game Report.
I started my research on UConn's next opponent, Depaul. The Blue Demons are playing Notre Dame and then Alabama State before facing UConn.
The first thing I noticed is that DePaul plays only on player 6' or taller. Everyone else is 5'8"-5'10". I'm curious on how they will defend UConn's Walker and Nelson-Ododa.
I haven't looked it up, but I bet that DePaul is top ten in the country in hoisting up three point shots. In eight games they have taken 288 three pointers. That's 36 per game. Their percentage is not so hot, right at 32.3%/.
Their point guard Campbell has an incredible 51 assists and only 6 turnovers. Wow!
More to come in a few days in the Pregame report.

What a great day for UConn and their players!!
Our very own Aubrey Griffin won her first (of hopefully many) freshman of the week award for the AAC. Well deserved and that 25 point 12 rebound game didn't hurt.
And the incredible Megan Walker won the AAC player of the week award. On top of that she won the
ESPN player of the week award as well. A great double dip for her.
I have a feeling we will see her win plenty of post season honors, but lets enjoy the season as it progresses.
Walker - “Coach said I needed a plan, so I did that on my own. I got into the best shape as possible. I got into the gym and worked my butt off. Then he asked, ‘Are you ready?’ I told him, ‘I have no choice but to be ready.’ It’s our time. Everyone on this team that’s stepping up, there’s no one here to cover for us anymore.”

Teamwise, UConn, much to my surprise, jumped TWO places to No. 2 in the AP poll. I guess that huge win over Notre Dame left quite the impression on the voters.
Stanford is No. 1. They play Ohio State next Sunday. How weird would it be for the Buckeyes to beat at the time No. 2 Louisville and Stanford in the space of less than 2 weeks.
The pollsters are catching on to the SEC. Maybe they are reading my blog? Mississippi State dropped from 10 to 15, a -5 and Tennessee dropped from 17 to 23, a -6. Those were the biggest drops in the Top 25. When...errr....If Tennessee loses to Stanford a week from Wednesday, they would drop out of the Top 25. Where they belong.
I forgot that Louisville dropped 5 spots, from 2 to 7. Funny, they jumped 6 spots when they beat Oregon.
And finally, congrats to West Virginia. They jumped 4 spots to enter the Top 25 at No. 22 after beating Mississippi State.

Here is a better picture!!!
Caroline is a 5'10" guard out of Milton Massachusetts home of Curry College (where my wife went off to college a few decades ago). She is ranked No. 41 by ESPN.
From Dan Olson - Fundamental guard handles and attacks in transition game; brings a scorer's mentality to the back court; deceptively quick on dribble-drive attack, finds the rim with consistency, yields results; smooth stroke on jumper, mid-range game creator with range beyond the arc.
Don't forget about Saylor Poffenbarger. Add in DeBerry, Fudd and Ducharme....a great 2021 class. Fingers crossed!!

By David in Naples!!!!!
Poor Muffet is going through a tough time with her Notre Dame basketball team. None of it is her fault, you see, because Geno and everyone else just cheats and plays unfairly. A quick review of her Final Four success should help her feel better in what is going to be a really, really long season. (Really, really, really...?)
First the good news.
1. Notre Dame won the NCAA Championship twice. Once in 2001 against Purdue and again in 2018 against Mississippi Sate. Two trophies, 17 years apart.
Now the bad news.
1. ND lost in the Championship game 5 times. All 5 losses have been in the last decade, starting in 2011. Here are the five losses:
* 2011 lost to Texas A&M
* 2012 lost to Baylor
* 2014 lost to UConn
* 2015 lost to UConn
* 2019 lost to Baylor
2. Notre Dame lost in the semi finals 2 times, in 2013 and back in 1997.
3. ND has been to two straight Final Fours. Of course, UConn has been to 12 straight.
4. UConn has won two straight Championships once, three straight Championships once and four straight Championships once. Oh yeah, the also won one straight twice...
5. Eleven Championships is better than 2 every day.
Fell better Muffet?
Go Huskies..!!

Great blog post, as usual. I had wondered about Caroline Ducharme’s recruiting, as she was at first night in 2018. Prospects Nation has her ranked at #23. I read on another board that she has grown and is at least six feet tall. Stanford is apparently also recruiting Caroline, and her sister who is 6’ 1” plays for Brown. But her Instagram has lots of UConn postings according to a buddy of mine who follows recruiting closely. Thanks again for your great blog, I enjoy your writing. I also appreciate your article links.
