Here is the pregame report for the UConn/South Florida Rematch in Tampa.

I also have the post game report from Senior Day.

*******************************************************************
I mentioned in the Senior Day post game report how KML's little brother ran to Geno and I didn't have a picture of the moment. Thankfully, my friend, DannyK was able to capture the moment along with a lot of other great photos. Here is the link to his facebook page and pictures.  But I had to post the one picture I just mentioned. As KML said, Geno has a soft spot for little kids.

The look on the little boy is priceless as are KML and her mom.

Another crazy night in WCBB with several Top Twenty-five upsets.

No. 19 Stanford continued it's mostly down season with another loss, this time to unranked Oregon (13-16). The Ducks, let by the amazing Jillian Alleyne, beat Stanford 62-55. Alleyne scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Stanford had a 40-39 lead with 14 minutes remaining before Oregon went on a 10-0 run over the next four minutes to take a nine point lead. Stanford never got closer than eight for closing to seven for the final margin. Another seed killing loss for Stanford. They have now lost 2 of their last 3 and 4-4 over their last eight game.

No. 12 Texas A&M lost to unranked LSU (16-12) after losing to unranked Missouri three days earlier. They lost their floor leader Jordan Jones, so this is not that much of an upset. LSU is tough at home. They should take a tumble in the polls, but more importantly, two seed killing losses. Tt least the loss to Missouri was by only one point. This loss was a terrible 17 point, 80-63 game that the Aggies were never close to competing in. The losses and the loss of Jones is just a killer.

I guess this isn't much of an upset, but No. 16 Duke defeated No. 15 UNC 81-80 in a very entertaining game. The first sixteen minutes were really competitive with UNC leading 27-25 with four minutes left in the half. From that point to the halftime buzzer, UNC outscored Duke 13-4 to take an eleven point lead at the half. The second half was all Duke, outscoring UNC 25-4 over the first eight minutes of the half. Quite the turnaround for the Blue Devils. They still led by eight, 74-66 with 3:33 remaining in the game but this is Duke and you just knew it wasn't over. UNC closed to one point 78-77 and had a chance to tie the game when Stevens missed one of two free throws. They got a great look but Gray missed an contested but makeable layup with 6 seconds left. Stevens hit two free throws for a four point lead as Gray hit a three pointer at the buzzer for the final margin.

No. 8 Louisville lost to unranked Virginia on the road. A tough loss for the Cardinals after losing to Notre Dame two games ago. This game was back and forth the entire first half with Virginia taking a one point lead into the second half, 32-31. Both teams had runs to start the second half. The score was tied 49-49 with 8 minutes remaining. At that point, Virginia took over and outscored Louisville 26-10 to end the game. This was not a good effort for Jeff's team and he can't be very happy. They are still in line for at least a 4 seed, but they need to turn things around quickly and do well in the ACC tournament.

The big upset of the day was No. 13 Kentucky handily beat No. 2 South Carolina 67-56. Losing to a ranked team on the road shouldn't impact South Carolina's No. 1 seed yet. But they now need to win the SEC tournament to ensure they get one of the top seeds. After a very slow start, the score was 5-3 in favor of the Wildcats just 8 minutes in before South Carolina took their biggest lead of the game 15-10 with 8 minutes remaining in the half. Kentucky then took over, outscoring SC 17-7 to end the half and take a 27-22 lead . Kentucky stretched it out over the first 8:30 of the second half, 43-26. The lead got as big as 21 points 50-29 before South Carolina slowly closed the gap. It was 53-46 after a Sessions layup with 6:40 left. And you could feel the momentum really change. South Carolina kept Kentucky from making any field goals over the next three minutes, but they fouled to do it. And the Wildcats didn't miss, going 10-10 allowing Kentucky to build the lead back up to 13. From there, it was too little too late for the Gamecocks.

And the Tennessee fans are thrilled. The Lady Vols grabbed a piece of the regular season title, beating Vanderbilt at TBA on Senior Day. They were led by senior Arial Massengale's 26 points and senior Cierra Burdick's 12 points 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Tennesssee is really going to miss these two along with Harrison next year.

Ugly Game Of The Day

In a battle of the Georges, No. 22 George Washington put a beat down on George Mason. The Patriots managed only 45 points. They shot 29% from the field, 3-13 on three's, 23 turnovers and only 7 assists.

Congrats George Mason for winning the latest installment of As the UGGY Turns.

Honorable Mention

I'm throwing South Carolina here. They didn't quite meet all the criteria I usually use, but for the former No. 2 team in the country, this was UGLY!!!!

The Gamecocks scored only 56 points, on 32% shooting. They were 27% (6-22) on threes, 10-20 from the free throw line and 10 assists and 20 turnovers. They also had two players foul out. POY candidate Tiffany Mitchell had only 8 points before fouling out and Bianca Cuevas fouled out in 9 minutes.
