Just a few games I was able to watch pieces of today. I did a lot of channel surfing.

Big upset in the Pac12!!!! I did not get to see this game but Colorado, now 15-16, upset Top seed and 8th ranked Oregon State 68-65. This is an absolute shocker. I have a link in the Top 25 section of you want the details. Wow!

 ACC Tourney

No. 2 Notre Dame beat Miami in the rematch. I was pretty sure that Miami wouldn't be able to hit their shots at as high a clip as they did in the first matchup. And that certainly proved to be true. Notre Dame was able to get balanced scoring with five players in double digits and Lindsay Allen just short of that with nine points. It was a fun game to watch for the first eight minutes of the game, with Notre Dame leading 20-19. The Irish slowly pulled away in the first half, behind eight points by Loyd and the inside game of Reimer and Turner. In the second half, Notre Dame was able to withstand a run by Miami to cut the lead to five, 46-41 with 14 minutes left and methodically pull away from the Hurricanes behind a terrific second half from Madison Cable. Notre Dame plays Duke Saturday in one Semi Final.

No. 16 Duke defeated Wake Forest 77-68. The Blue Devils were led by Kendell Cooper's career high 21 points and Elizabeth Williams 11 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. She was a force in the paint both offensively and defensively. Williams was also the recipient of the ACC Kay Yow Scholar Athlete of the Year award. Behind Dearica Hamby, Wake was able to close it to five, but with this being their third game in three days, they just lost steam the last twelve minutes of the game. Hamby was terrific in this game and the ACC tourney and will most likely be a 1st round draft pick in this weak WNBA draft. Duke plays Notre Dame Saturday in one Semi Final. Did I just repeat myself??

What a great game between No. 15 UNC and No. 10 Louisville. I watched of the game on and off until the last 5 minutes of the game and boy, am I glad I tuned back in. Louisville fought back from a second half ten point deficit to take a three point lead, and had that lead with only a few seconds left before Jamie Cherry hit a 35 foot shot to send the game to OT. In the overtime, both teams had leads and there were some great plays by and clutch free throw shooting by Moore and Hammond. Louisville finally prevailed 77-75 when Cherry missed a three pointer from basically the same spot where she made the one to sent it to OT and just hit backboard. What a fun game to watch. And now Louisville goes on to play against a really tough Florida State team in the second Semi Final.

SEC

South Carolina and Tennessee continued their inevitable march to the SEC championship games with easy wins against overmatched opponents. The word of the day was Defense as South Carolina held a tired Arkansas team to 36 points and Tennessee held a scoring deficient Georgia team to 41 points. South Carolina is still struggling on offense themselves, only scoring 58 points themselves today. If they don't get their offense together soon, there will be no way they win against Tennessee the way the Lady Vols are playing.

Tennessee will play Kentucky, who beat Mississippi State 76-67. Kentucky was down by 15 points with 15 minute remaining in the game 54-39 before going on an 19-4 run to tie the game at 58-58 with eight minutes left. The Wildcats then went on a 11-2 run over the next five minutes to take a nine point lead with 3 minutes left. That was all she wrote as Kentucky hit 9-12 free throws to close it out. Epps scored 31 and O'Neal 18 to lead the Wildcats. Kentucky lost to Tennessee twice this year but it was a 73-72 game in Kentucky and a much closer than the score 72-59 game where Harrison was lost for the season for Tennessee. Should be a good one!

LSU  continued to try to resurrect their season with a 71-65 win over 18th ranked Texas A&M. It was back to back wins for The Tigers over the Aggies. They are playing great basketball led by Danielle Ballard with 22 points and 10 rebounds. A&M got off to an incredibly slow start worthy of an UGGY award before righting the ship and actually making baskets. They were scoreless for the first 4 1/2 minutes, had five points after nine minutes. Ugly. At that point they were down 19 points and I figured I'd watch something else. I tuned back in during the second half and the game got interesting. Texas A&M was able to close it to four points with 4:30 remaining and three points with 1:30 left. After an LSU turnover on the next possession, the Aggies had a chance to close to a point or tie on the three pointer, but it was not in the cards. They missed a jumper, got the rebounds and then turned it over...and the game was over. LSU will meet South Carolina on Saturday.

Ugly Game Of The Day

Lots to choose from, but for Friday I'm going with North Florida University, who lost to No. 20 Florida Gulf Coast University 74-35 in the Atlantic Sun Quarterfinal game.

The Ospreys are two time winners of the UGGY award, a very small club that you really don't want to be a member of.

NFU scored 35 points, shooting 25% from the field, 11% (2-18) from beyond the arc, 5-11 from the FT line and had only 6 assists and 14 turnovers.
