Here are a few observations from games I was able to watch.

The Princeton / Green Bay game was fun to watch. Two really well coached teams and they both execute on offense so well. I've seen a couple of Princeton games this season and Green Bay really took them out of their offense in the first half. While Princeton shot well from the perimeter, they couldn't get their inside game going until the second half. This game will just give them more confidence going into the game against Maryland. The Terps played well today against 16 seed New Mexico State, winning by 18 points, 75-57.

Watched the Tennessee / Boise State game and it was way closer than it should have been. Boise closed to five points 63-58 with three minutes left, but a big three pointer from Massengale stretched the lead back to eight and it was never closer. Tennessee will have to play better to get past a defensive minded Pitt team. Tennessee missed so many easy shots, you just don't see that from elite teams. A very unimpressive 1st round game by a 2 seed.

I watched the first half of the Oklahoma / Quinnipiac game before heading out to dinner. Yes, it's true. I don't sit at the computer all day, although my wife would argue with that. I love the freshman Gabbi Ortiz. She is a terrific point guard that was on fire in the first half. 13 points on 3-5 three point shooting and three assists and no turnovers. She is a very emotional player and fits in really well with what Coach Coales is looking for. Oklahoma could be a tough out in this tournament.

Rutgers held off a big rally by Seton Hall to set up a game against a former Big East rival, UConn. Kahleah Copper and Tyler Scaife each scored 21 points and Betnijah Laney added 17 points and 12 rebounds. The Scarlet Knights improved to 23-9 in the NCAA Tournament. Scaife became the third Rutgers player this season to reach 1,000 points for her career. Rutgers makes only 2 three points shots per game and they made seven in this game. They will need to do more of that against UConn if they want to stay competitive.
