Thanks to my friend David in Naples for sending me these interesting statistics to share with you all. He is an amazing numbers guy!!!

UConn’s regular season is over and the Huskies finished 29-1, with the lone loss to Stanford in overtime. The regular season statistics show just how amazing UConn was against virtually every opponent. It would not be unusual for a team to have a bad game against UConn. It is extremely unusual for almost every team to play so poorly. Consider the following:

1. Opponents scored 1,413 points against UConn during the entire season. UConn scored 1,416 points in just the first half of games this year. Most games were over at halftime.
2. UConn gave up 545 baskets in 30 games this year, but they had 565 turnovers. Opponents were more likely to turn the ball over than get it in the basket.
3. UConn made 330 free throws (72.1%).  Opponents only attempted 255 free throws. They made 171 or 67.1%. UConn held 2 opponents without ANY attempts.
4. UConn assisted on 650 of their 1,045 baskets (62.2%). Seven players had more than 42 assists, with Moriah leading the team with 139. UConn’s front court of Stewie, KML, Morgan and Stokes had more assists (279) than all opponents combined (265).
5. UConn’s starting five scored 2,026 points this season or 67.5 pts per game. They only played 65% of possible minutes. All five shoot greater than 51.4% from the field. Combined, they were 78.4% from the free throw line (254-324).
6. UConn blocked almost as many shots (245) as opponents have assists (265).
7. No UConn player has more turnovers than assists.
8. All five UConn starters averaged 25-28 minutes per game. Stewie and MoJeff started all 30 games, KML started in 29, Morgan in 28 and Nurse in  27.
9. All five UConn starters led the team in scoring at least twice this season. Stewie led 11 times, KML 8 times, MoJeff 5 times and Morgan 5 times.
10. UConn home attendance averaged 8,930 in 13 games.

Ugly Game Of The Day

Wednesday's winner of the UGGY trophy had their season end tonight.

Tennessee-Martin defeats Eastern Illinois 68-35 in the OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE 1st round game in Nashville.

Eastern Illinois ended up 10-20 for the season. In this game they scored only 35 points on 28% from the field, 24% (4-17) on threes, only 6 assists and 21 turnovers. I'm sure they are upset the season is over. No more UGGY's for them. But they got one Wednesday!!!
