Well, sometimes it only takes ONE run and boy, what a run it was. UConn trailed 3-0 when they went on a 19-0 run to take a 16 point lead. They stretched that out a few times, but until the fourth quarter, UConn kept their lead at 16-22 points. A late run by UL and a few missed by UConn brought the final lead to 11 in UConn's 69-58 win.

I'm sure that Louisville coach will focus on the way they outscored UConn 18-12 in the fourth quarter to close the gap. And I'm just as sure that many UConn fans will think the same thing. "Oh my, UConn lost the last three quarters! We are doomed".

Silly talk. Louisville was the No. 4 team in the county. They might still be after this game. Teams don't seem to move in the polls much after losing to UConn. They are not Wichita State and anyone expecting that 24-6 first quarter lead to end up being a 96-24 win was just dreaming.

Katie Lou won the battle of the National POY candidates over Asia Durr. She is really making a late run at this honor even thought South Carolina's A'ja Wilson is still the favorite. See David's numbers for how the matchup turned out. I guess Kati Lou had an advantage. She didn't have Nurse guarding her.

I just got tickets to the Temple game! I know I'll see some great basketball and UConn is still No. 1 and undefeated. I'm happy!

I've met and spoken to Chris Dailey many times over the years and let me tell you, there isn't a nice (or better dressed) person in the world. She always has time for UConn fans. I can honestly say that she is a better person than a coach and that is saying something. She deserves this honor and I'm so happy she is getting the credit she has earned over the years.

Love you Chris!!! Congrats!!

From before the game

Asia Durr is Louisville's leading scorer with 496 points going into tonight's game against UConn. That is 24.2% of her team's total. The next leading scorer is Hines-Allen with 365 points or 17.8% of the total. Together those two have scored 861 pts or 42% of all Louisville's points. All this concentrated scoring is no surprise since those two have taken 42% of Louisville's shots in their 26 games. You can bet UConn game plans for these two.. 8-)

The Huskies have four players who have scored between 17.3% and 15.3% of the team's 2,187 points.
1. Napheesa, who leads the team with 378 pts, only scores 17.3% of UConn's points.
2. Kia has 365 points or 16.7%
3. Azura is 3rd with 346 points or 15.8%
4. Katie Lou, the 4th leading scorer with 334 points, has 15.3% of the team's total.

No doubt, Geno's plan will be to make Durr and Hines-Allen take bad shots and hold them below their scoring averages. That job will fall to Kia and Gabby with lots of switching to keep a defender in their face. Durr has 78 made threes and the rest of the team has 85. She is the key to any chance Louisville has to win. louisville has a much harder task in trying to hold down 4 UConn players, not to mention Crystal and Gabby who have scored 490 points as the 5th and 6th leading scorers.  We will see....

Go Huskies..!!

From after the game

Asia Durr scores 20 points, but 14 came after the game was decided. She started out 1-7 and finished 7-19. Give Kia credit for another great defensive effort. On three point shots, she was 3-12 or 25%. Very good player playing against a great defense..!!

By comparison, Katie Lou scored 26 points on 17 shots and 2 free throws. Durr has 20 points on 19 shots and 3 free throws. Game, set, match for UConn..!
