Ok, here is a special treat and a flash from the past. I was looking for articles for my UConn News area and this article showed up.

So, I start to read the article and realize it was written on December 23rd 1990. Yep, it was written 27 years ago. Just the beginning of the UConn success story.

"UConn had enjoyed only one winning season in the team's 11-year history. But after a 12-15 record during his first year, Mr. Auriemma's UConn teams have had four consecutive winning seasons and posted a 72-25 mark over the last three years and into the current season, while qualifying for the last two National Collegiate Athletic Association tournaments."
"What we did was go out and get some good players and then establish a winning attitude," the 36-year-old coach said in an interview. "And as we won more games, we attracted more and more better players."
I was amazed by the attendance. 1602 per game. Monday night was a sellout of 10,000+.
It just gives you perspective on where this program has come from. And how spoiled we are as UConn fans now.

Observations from last night's 69-58 victory over Louisville.

1. In a match-up of scoring superstars, Katie Lou scored 19 points in the 1st half while Asia Durr was held scoreless in the 1st period. UConn led 24-6 after that 1st period. 8-)

2. UConn won easily despite Crystal and Azura going 4-20 from the field and Kia scoring 4 points.

3. UConn had 22 assists on 29 baskets. Louisville had 10 assists on 23 baskets. Very telling... ;)

4. The Huskies scoring by quarter was 24, 18, 15 and 12. Hmmm....

5. Asia Durr is a really good player and it took a great defensive effort to hold her to 20 points.

6. UConn is 25-0 for the 10th time in program history.

7. Gabby passed Kara Wolters in career rebounds and is now in 7th place. Isn't Kara like 6'8"?

Part 2.

Here is an opinion from a UConn "fan" that makes me want to beat my head against a wall. He is talking about Crystal.

"Her shot selection left much to be desired and she didn't seem to be that concerned with getting her teammates involved. I haven't had the opportunity to see a lot of this year's Huskie games but her performance tonight left a lot to be desired!"A. If you admit you haven't seen many Huskies games this year, don't say anything.
B. Crystal has 95 assists in 23 games. I think she gets her teammates involved.
C. She is injured and had to play 30 minutes. Maybe cut her some slack...?
D. Crystal makes 43% of her threes (42-97), but you have a problem with her shooting threes...?

Unbelievable... >:D
