I can always count on the message boards for something interesting to write about when there is a slow night in WCBB.

In a thread called "Development of incoming freshmen" this was posted by one genius.

"This freshman class has underwhelmed because of the "lessons" Geno tries to teach. He is making a mistake with how he uses his top recruits. Sure, winning by 30+ ppg is nice, but seeing the development of the players that will carry the torch for your program is more important. We will see more transfers in large bunches if Geno does not relax with this approach. Quite frankly it's obnoxious. Breaking down your players for your own benefit is dangerous to the long term future of the program. The fans came to see the teamwork, camraderie, and effortless flow. They did not go to watch Geno. Or better yet hear about their deficiencies. Teach them and let them play, who cares if they fail. But let them play basketball and show their natural skillsets over National TV. Play your Freshman, Geno. "

I'm sure some of you might agree with this in some way. I too would like to see  the freshmen get more playing time. But I can only shake my head at the logic this poster is using. The snarky attitude  is one thing, but to think that Geno would not play the freshmen to inhibit their development in order to win by 30+ games? Idiot.

I love this one - "We will see more transfers in large bunches if Geno does not relax wit this approach." How dumb is this? Geno has been doing this with freshmen his entire career. Where are all the mass transfers? Sure some do. But "large bunches"? It's obnoxious? No, this poster is obnoxious.

Then he says "breaking down the players for your own benefit". I'm not even sure what he means? What benefit is he talking about? Creating championship teams and AA players? Dangerous? Oy.

Then when questioned he replied "You don't learn from practicing all day. You learn from playing the sport 5 on 5 vs. real competition. "

UH...no...that's not true. In almost any endeavor, you need to practice and practice the right way in order to perfect a skill. Not only that, but the UConn women practice all the time against men players who are better than anyone they will play in games. What a dummy!!

There is so much more in that thread. It really hurt my head to read it.

I think this video says it all.

OK....end of rant.

David sent me three and I think one is for the next blog as he is on a trip tomorrow. But I liked all three so here they are. I'll try to do my own "numbers" in the next blog myself. Thanks David!!!

By David in Naples!!!!!

Part I

More on the play of Azura, whom some have called "disappointing"... >:D

1. Inside the 3 pt arc, Z is shooting 70% (128-183).
2. On free throws, she is leading the team at 80% (44-55).
3. Her 171 rebounds are 1 behind the leader. (Gabby)
4. Z has 42 blocked shots vs 44 fouls.
5. She has 47 assists and only 26 turnovers.

Hard to see why any UConn fan would not be very, very happy..!!  ;)

Part II

Lots of even numbers for tonight's Fun with Numbers.
1. Kia's start against UCF will be her 130th start, passing Stewie.
2. Kia is shooting three-point shots at exactly 50%.
3. Gabby joined Maya as the only Huskies with 900 rebounds, 400 assists and 250 steals.
4. Geno and UConn are 10-0 playing on the day of the Super Bowl.
5. Cincinnati is now 0-18 against Geno.
6. UConn has made 32 threes in the last 3 games.
7. The Huskies' winning streak is now 22 games.

Go Huskies..!!

Part III

As sick as the stock market may have made investors on Monday, the South Carolina vs Miss. State game was even worse. Consider these horrible numbers:

1. The two teams missed 71 shots combined. (puke)
2. South Carolina shot 59% from the free throw line..!! :o
3. A total of 40 personal fouls were called, resulting in 40 free throws.
4. Carolina's starters had 13 turnovers and only 5 assists.
5. A'ja Wilson actually had an assist to go with her 4 turnovers..!! 8-)
6. Jennings for SC had 1 point, missed all her shots from the field, had 4 turnovers and 3 personal fouls.
7. Bianca Jackson, who hit for 20 vs UConn, scored 5 pts and had 5 fouls.
8. MSU's five starters had 2 assists.
9. South Carolina scored 8 points in the 2nd period to give up a 10 pt lead, then scored 9 pts in the 4th to lose.

This was truly a painful game to watch.  Right now, neither of these two teams would beat UConn in 10 tries.

  1. Welp, I went over there after a long hiatus.

Clear evidence of trolling 'cause nobody who knows even a little about team sports could defecate that mess onto a page unless they were attempting to stir it up.
