It was a very nice weekend in Dallas. The flight home was uneventful....just like I like it.

It did cut into my blogging time, but now that I'm back, I should be able to put a little more time into it.

Here is my South Florida Pre Game report.

I'm sure that most of you saw the South Carolina / Tennessee game on ESPN2 on Sunday. I know that A'ja Wilson missed the game, but have you seen an uglier game between two top 25 teams?

Wilson missed the game with vertigo. I have had that occasionally and it's an awful feeling. I can't imagine trying to play basketball. I hope it's not a frequent problem for Wilson. That being said, South Carolina would struggle to be a top 25 team right now without her. And it was no surprise that Tennessee was able to win this game by a decent amount 65-46. What was surprising is that the Gamecocks actually had a halftime lead of 26-21. Yes, I noted this was an upset in my "25 links" section but it really wasn't with Wilson out.

The SEC tournament seedings came out and if both Tennessee and South Carolina win their first round games, these two teams will meet again. I'd really like to see how the game goes when SC has Wilson in the lineup.

Speaking of SEC, No. 2 Mississippi State ended the regular season undefeated with their easy win over Kentucky. 6'7" Teira McGowan was terrific in this game a 20/20 with 5 blocks in a dominant performance. I did wonder why with a 20 point lead and 3 minutes left McGowan and Vivians were still in the game. They played another 2 minutes!. They are really playing some great hoops.

Congrats to No. 4 Louisville, who clinched their first conference title in 17 years by beating up on Pittsburgh 81-49. They tied with Notre Dame, who was also 15-1 but the Cardinals win by virtue of their demolition of the Irish earlier in the season. Asia Durr had 22 points.

In a big upset, not in regard to winning and losing, but more on the margin of victory, No. 17 Texas A&M beat up on No. 11 Missouri 82-63. The freshman of the year in my book, Chennedy Carter, led the way for the Aggies with 23 points.

UConn's balanced scoring & sharing of the ball continued through the SMU game. Four players (KLS, Pheesa, Kia, and Z) scored in double figures in the 80-36 win over the Mustangs. More importantly, the starters had the following assists = 3, 4, 4, 5 and 5. For the season, Gabby and Crystal have 143 and 108 assists, while Katie Lou, Napheesa, and Kia have 90, 89, and 85 respectively. The Huskies could have five 100 assist players again this year. :D

Four Huskies have now scored over 400 points this season. They are Pheesa (442), Katie Lou (425), Kia (411) and Azura (402). Gabby is 9 points away from 300 points. Great balance..!  As a team, UConn went over 2,500 points for the season. The average is now 90.5 points per game, which would be the best in the last decade. It is odd that a team known for its' defensive ability, could set scoring records. Or, maybe it is because of that.  ;)

Azura's double-double in points (14) and rebounds (14) gives her six for the season. That ties her with Gabby and Napheesa for the team lead in double-doubles. All three have six for this year, although Gabby has 26 in her career at UConn and Pheesa has 23. If you count the time at Duke, Z has 29 overall double-doubles.  The only other player with a double-double this season is Crystal with 1.

Go Huskies..!!
