Well, what a lousy couple of days to start my time in Florida! I won't go into details, but I spent more time in the bathroom than on the golf course. That's why I didn't blog last night or write a pregame report for the Tulane game. Feeling better now and hope to play golf on Thursday!

Napheesa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson are the best of friends. They both were All Americans last year for the Huskies. However, they have only one statistic in common. They both can score lots and lots of points. Currently, Pheesa has 404 and Lou is at 387, #1 and #2 on the team. The rest of their stats are different as night is to day. Consider:

1. Rebounds - Pheesa has 199 while KLS has 89. Collier’s 54 offensive rebounds almost equals Lou’s 63 defensive boards.

2. Threes - Katie Lou has made 63 from outside the arc and shoots 49%. Napheesa is at 33% with only 16 makes.

3. Blocked shots - Lou may be 6’3”, but her 3 blocked shots pales in comparison to 6’1” Pheesa’s 49.

4. Steals - The totals favor Collier at 48-27, but at least Lou is within 20 or so.

5. Fouls and turnovers - Samuelson has the edge in these two negative stats, by a wide margin. Napheesa has 46 fouls to 25 for KLS. Turnovers are the same w/ Collier at 44 and her buddy only at 26.

6. Free throws- Katie Lou leads the team w/ 56 makes for 81.2% accuracy. Pheesa is close, but in 4th place at 78% accuracy. (Ok, that stat is close enough..)

7. Assists - The edge goes to Napheesa with a surprising 83 assists vs Lou’s 79. Close, but not given how often they touch the ball and where they play on the court.

8. Shots - Lou has missed 5 games and has 50 fewer shots than Pheesa. (296 vs 246). As a result Pheesa has 169 baskets while Katie Lou has 35 fewer hoops.

Best of friends, but two very different styles on the court. One is a finesse shooter who is learning to score down low. The other is a shot blocking power forward who scores in the lane and rebounds with the trees. UConn is lucky to have them both..!!

Go Huskies..!!
