UConn’s Evina Westbrook had left knee surgery 12/31, but is expected to be ready for the start of next season.

Let's hope she recovers quickly. I guess it was a good thing that her waiver wasn't approved. She might have tried to play and then lost a year of playing. This way she has two years left.

The good news is that Geno appears to be back at practice and should be coaching in the game against Wichita State. Welcome back GENO!!!!

Image result for attendance

I saw this on one of the UConn message boards. It is a great look at the power of the UConn women's basketball team in filling the seats at opponent's arenas.

UConn usually ranks anywhere from 2nd to 5th on a home attendance amount.

In looking at all of the UConn road attendance then comparing it to the teams home average there were HUGE differences in every game.

In 2019-19 alone, 93,800 fans saw 14 UConn's away games, an average of 6,700 per game. This would have been 10th on the "Home attendance average" behind Iowa (6,797) and ahead of Purdue (6,515).

Overall, having one UConn game on your home court, created a 16.3% increase in attendance ON YOUR SEASON AVERAGE! In other words, 53,293 more fans came to the 14 UConn games last year than would have attended otherwise. SC sold out 18,000 fans (vs. 10,406 average) and Louisville had 17,023 fans (vs. 9,531). Overall, on a game average was almost double your normal home attendance for that one game at 191.5% UConn game increase over your average game. St. Louis (390%) and California (386%) both has almost a 4 times increase in their per game attendance with UConn in the arena

In the 7 years, an average 75,394 MORE fans came to UConn games than fillinotherwise. The average attendance boost was 15.9% (low of 13.6% to 17.4%). Imagine boosting your yearly attendance average by 16% by adding one team to your schedule.

I haven't been a big fan of C. Vivian Springer, coach of the Rutgers team. I thought she taught her players to be overly aggressive to deal with teams that were more talented and athletic than her Scarlet Knights. However, her reaction to Don Imus's passing was pure class.

Imus, if you remember, called the Rutgers players "Nappy headded ho's" on his radio show. He was sincere in his eventual apology and spoke with Springer in person to convey his regrets. I'll just post one quote from her. You can read the rest in the article I linked.

“The Rutgers family has found peace through the years, and we are proud of our response to hateful words spoken years ago. We are proud of the positive change it has brought about and the lesson that came with it — women and African Americans should be treated with respect, not only in the media, but in all walks of life. It is our prayer that Don finds eternal peace in his passing and we wish his family strength."

Image result for stats don't lie

By David in Naples!!!!!

Not all stats are fun or good. The worst UConn stats are as follows:

1. Olivia is 0-5 from three point range.
2. Out of 2,000 possible minutes, Evelyn Adebayo has played 20 minutes.
3. Kyla has 0 steals in 184 minutes.
4. Aubrey has made 16 free throws and missed 10.
5. Christyn is 12-41 from three range. That’s 29%.
6. Crystal only has 14 free throws in 8 games.
7. UConn has 138 turnovers in 10 games.

It was hard to come up with significant bad stats. That is good..!

Go Huskies..!!
