A few interesting things from the Wichita State game.
The Shockers were shooting 29.5% on three point shots coming into this game. They were 7-13 (53.8%) for this game. Now that is a Shock.
Shyia Smith was 3-16 on the season. She went 2-2.
Mariah McCully was 8-37 on the season. She went 2-3.
Carla Bremaud was 33-108 on the season. She went 3-4.
Depth is overrated. Wichita State played 10 players double digit minutes. UConn played 6 double digit minutes.
UConn had three players lead the team with 13 shots taken.

No. 4 South Carolina is looking more and more like a powerhouse and definite final four contender. Thursday night they beat up No. 13 Kentucky 99-72. The freshman on the team are really contributing. Cooke, Beal and Boston all start and are playing great basketball.
However, it's tough to count on freshmen when the games get tougher and more important. In South Carolina's case, their depth is a good thing. They had 6 players in double digit scoring with two players with 8 points. That's a lot of contributions from a lot of players.

Texas Tech, the worst undefeated team in WCBB is no longer undefeated. They previously beat up on eleven really bad team and clearly the voters knew what was up as they never sniffed the top 25 poll.
Iowa State had the game of a lifetime beating Texas Tech 96-66. Every starter for Iowa State hit 3 three-point shots in the game. That is just crazy. And they scored 35 points in the first quarter and 31 points in the third quarter. A little more crazy...lol.
And in a late game, another faux undefeated team Colorado, was shown the reality of playing good teams in a 104-46 loss to No. 2 Oregon. The Buffaloes played only one team with an RPI under 100. Next up is Oregon State. I'd guess another 50 point loss. Yes, the PAC12 has some great teams at the top, but the bottom is just as bad as every other conference's weak teams.
So how bad was Colorado in this game? It was UGGY bad!!!
They scored 11, 11, 13 and 11 points in each quarter. They shot 26.7% from the field, 4-24 on threes, 47.6% on free throws and 21 turnovers. Blech!!!!

In the first 2 1/2 minutes of last night's victory over Wichita State, UConn scored exactly 1 point. WSU scored 10 points to open up a 10-1 lead. In the first 4 minutes of the 4th period, Wichita State scored 14 points and held the Huskies to 2 points. So in those 6 1/2 minutes of game action, UConn was outscored 24-3. Fortunately, the Huskies had scoring streaks of their own.
In the 33 1/2 minutes of action, excluding the above described 6 1/2 minutes of action, UConn dominated Wichita State 80-31. That 49 point difference made up for the 21 point deficit from the opening of the 1st and 4th periods. The final margin of victory was a comfortable 28 points. The game action was anything but comfortable.
After spotting WSU the 10-1 lead, UConn responded with a 27-2 run of their own. In the 4th, again after letting WSU back in the game with the 14-2 rally, the Huskies ran off a 20-2 closing spurt. It was a game of streaks and runs. Fortunately, UConn's were longer and more frequent.
Go Huskies..!!
