Three days, 22 hours of driving, 1300 miles. Whew. I'm so glad we did this. Got to our condo at 4:15 and we are all unpacked, ate dinner and then went to the grocery store. Now it's time to relax, watch the game, write a little and pass out.
And I have an 8:15 tee time Wednesday morning. Can't wait to play! But right now I just watched the UConn game and I'm exhausted from both the drive and the game.

UConn 68 Memphis 56
Well, that was interesting. I'm not sure if it was more UConn playing poorly or Memphis playing well. And make no mistake about it, even though they lost by 12 I'm sure their coach would say it was the best they played all season. The Tigers can take a lot of confidence from this game and good for them.
Crystal Dangerfield was great in this game for the Huskies and led them with 24 points. Christyn Williams added 16 and Megan Walker had 14. Walker did not play well in this game as she had 6 turnovers most of them sloppy plays. Not good.
It was just an under-performing AAC win that Geno can now use. It's tough that he still needs to do that so many games into the season. This is a difficult team to get a handle on.

By David in Naples!!!!
Road games after a big loss often have carry a hangover along. Even though UConn beat Houston after the crushing Baylor loss, the bad taste and lousy play stayed with the team. Megan had 6 turnover, Christyn was 0-3 from three, and UConn had more fouls (14) than assists (13). About the only player not still in a bit of a funk was Crystal with 24 points, 4 threes and 3 assists.
There was some other good play. Despite the 0-3 from three, Christyn was 7-9 inside the arc on her way to 16 points. Anna also continues to improve, making 2-4 from three range. The defense woke up after giving up 21 first period points to hold Memphis to 35 for the last 30 minutes. Olivia bounced back with 9 rebounds, 4 blocks and 8 points. Her 0-4 from the Charity Stripe almost rained on her positive parade.
An ugly win for sure, but it counts as much as a blowout..!
Go Huskies..!!

Bottom line is this team isn't that good Ododa is week has no post moves. If Kayla Irwin is starting was does that tell you.
ReplyDeleteIt may have been the best Memphis played all season... but it was the worst I've seen UConn play, not just this year but in the last couple. Maybe with the exception of the 4th quarter of the Baylor game. IMHO.
