It's difficult to explain how bad East Carolina is this season. I'll put it this way. If UConn had every player foul out ECU would still struggle to score. They are just terrible.
As a team, the Pirates are shooting 34.9% from the field. Yes, the field, not threes. They shoot 26.3% on threes. And even when not guarded they shoot only 58.2% from the free throw line. Their assist/turnover numbers are the worst I've seen this season. They have only 9.8 assists per game and 16.9 turnovers.
Wait, there's more. They only grab 30.1 rebounds per game.
Like I said yesterday, I'm looking at a 50+ point win.

We have a contender!!! No. 24 South Dakota took on conference mate Purdue Fort Wayne and put a world of hurt on the Mastodons (I bet you didn't know their nickname) beating them 79-25.
I perked up when I saw that 25 point total for PFW, so of course I took a closer look to see if we had an UGGY winner for Friday. I was not disappointed.
The Mastodons were as prehistoric as their mascot in only scoring 25 points. They were 9-43 for 20.9% from the field and were an amazing 0-16 on threes. It wasn't hard to figure out that percentage. They had only 4 assists and had 25 turnovers. Hey, still two less than Tennessee.
So, based on all those terrible stats, Purdue Fort Wayne truly deserves the UGGY!!!!

One of keys to last night’s victory over Tennessee was UConn’s bench play. The much maligned Husky bench crushed the Tennessee bench in a head to head comparison. Consider:
Points - UConn’s bench had twice the production of the Vols, 18 to 9.
Rebounds- Again, the gap was significant, 15 to 9.
Steals - UConn way ahead 8-0.
Assists - the Huskies 7 vs 1.
Turnovers - not even close, UConn only 2, the Vols 10.
Minutes - 60 minutes for the two Huskies vs 56 for the four Vols.
What makes all this even more amazing is UConn’s bench last night was 2 freshman. Tennessee used one of each class, Senior-Junior-Soph & Frosh.
