Image result for so disappointing

I hate writing after losses. Hate it. Especially in a game where there was so much wrong about it.

Let's start with the few good things that happened.
Christyn Williams was great for a long time in this game. Strong on the boards and fearless in the paint, she did a lot of hard work to keep this game close for a long time.

Crystal Dangerfield can shoot from LONG range. She forced a couple but hit a few clutch threes to stop Baylor from extending their lead.

Walker looked like an AA early on. Not much after that.

Geno put Irwin on Cox in the fourth quarter and she was 1-7 from the field as Kyla bodied her up. I suggested that match up in my pregame.

That was about it. Even I can't find the silver lining in this dark cloud of a performance.

I don't like to get on players, and I'll try to be as gentle with my words as possible, but Olivia Nelson-Ododa was just really really bad in this game in every aspect of her play. She was timid. She was weak. She was indecisive. I wish I had an answer for this. The refs in this game let Baylor play really physical and that is to the Bear's benefit and Cox took advantage of that to push Olivia off the block and bodied her up so Olivia next got a good look. After a while it was clear that Cox got in Olivia's head and took her out of the game completely. It was so disappointing to see.

I was really disappointed in Kyla's performance as well. While I did like her defense on Cox, she became the same timid player on offense that we saw for 3 years. Yes, she missed an early three in the second half by a lot. Way off. But with Cox guarding her, Kyla refused to shoot again until late in the game when it didn't matter. Cox GAVE her the three pointer over and over and Kyla just looked to pass and screen off the pass. That was it. Shooters keep shooting and she can shoot. Sigh.....

The freshmen played like freshmen, not ready for prime time although Griffin was fouled several times on her rebounding efforts and nothing was called.

Baylor is a good team, but they were there to be had. Credit them for playing tough both physically and mentally. And credit Kim for her classy comments after the game.

I will try to remember that it was 55-54 Baylor with 5:42 left in the game. I will try to forget the last 5:42.

On to the next game.

Image result for upset city

Does it make me a bad person that other team's misery makes me feel better about the UConn loss?

There were a bunch of upsets in the Top 25 and I will list each and every one of them.

No. 17 Maryland lost to Iowa 66-61. The Terps have now lost two of their last three games.

In a big instate rivalry game No. 9 North Carolina State lost to North Carolina 66-60 to remove them from the undefeated ranks.

No. 11 Florida State lost to Georgia Tech on the Seminoles home court 67-52.

And No. 24 Michigan lost to Ohio State 78-69. This Buckeye team has done this before.

Ahhh.....I feel better already.

LATE BREAKING UPSET - No. 10 Texas A&M lost to LSU 57-54. Sadly, Chennedy Carter hurt her ankle in the second quarter after scoring 11 points and didn't return. Hoping for a quick recovery.

Image result for what makes you feel better

So, after I typed this I remembered that Notre Dame was playing Thursday night and they were at home against Boston College. I figured this game was in the bag for the Irish. But, it was if the basketball gods felt sorry for me and gave me something to feel better about. Notre Dame lost to the Eagles 75-65. This dropped their record to 6-10, 1-3 in the ACC. I believe they are now 3-8 at home. This game should give UConn fans some perspective about the Husky loss.

Then I remembered that Tennessee was playing Ole Miss and I hoped for another upset. It wasn't to be as Ole Miss is just a terrible team. I mean really awful. So bad that........yes.....get ready.....

It's UGGY TIME!!!!

Their name couldn't be more appropriate in this game. They were not just Ole Miss. They were Miss every shot. Well close to it. Let's take a closer look.

They were 10-54 from the field for 18.5%.
They were 2-12 on threes for 16.7%.
They were outrebounded 56-23.
Their 16 turnovers were a positive!

Finally, they scored 6 points in the first quarter, 8 points in the second quarter, exploded for 12 points in the third quarter and was even worse than UConn (Cheap Shot) in the fourth quarter scoring only 2 points for a total of 28 points for the game. Wow.

So, congrats to Ole Miss on their excellent entry for the UGGY of the year game. It will be hard to top!!

Runner up is Miami. Ahh...the formerly ranked Miami and the team CBS Sports uses as a big win for Oregon State. They lost to Louisville on their own court 87-41. Wow. Their stats?

41 points, 20.3% from the field, 4-27 on threes, 11-19 on free throws. Still ugly, but not good enough for an UGGY on this night.

More Paige Bueckers stuff. It doesn't end. This one is a video of her and her Hopkin's teammates on their journey to become the No. 1 high school team in the country. It's a lot of fun to watch!

Image result for stats don't lie

By David in Naples!!!!

Stats will tell not only who won the game, but also why. Here are the “why stats” for tonight’s loss to Baylor.

1. UConn shot 29% from the field.
2. Two starters went a combined 0-12.
3. Baylor made 45% of their 60 shots.
4. The UConn bench scored 3 points.
5. UConn had 8 assists.
6. The Huskies missed 18 three point shots.

Easy to see why UConn lost. Hopefully, lesson learned.

Go Huskies..!!
