In case you haven't seen it, here is my UConn/Baylor Pregame Report.

Travis Mays, head coach of SMU women's basketball, gives final directions to his players to close out a team practice at the Moody Coliseum on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020. The SMU women's basketball team faced the No. 1 ranked University of Connecticut Huskies on Sunday, but were defeated 80-42. (Lynda M. Gonzalez/The Dallas Morning News)
“Do you enjoy competing?”

I read a great article on how SMU prepped for the UConn game.

Of course, David from Naples had the best take on it.

“They’re not as disciplined as UConn used to be,” Mays said. “They still have the scoring mentality, because that’s what he reps. He reps the shooting. He reps the offensive aggressiveness. But they don’t have that discipline.”

“No,” Gordon agreed. “The only one that has the ability to really break you down, is, of course, Meagan Walker and Dangerfield.”

UConn response:

1. Christyn scores 21 points on 9-16 shooting.
2. Kyla shoots 5-5 and 4-4 from three-point range.
3. SMU scores 9 points in the 1st period and 8 in the 4th.
4. UConn had 29 assists and SMU had 22 turnovers.

Someone didn't read their scouting report very carefully..!!

Here is a video of Paige Buerker's team against 5 Star Iowa St Commit Lexi Donarski. Donarski is a terrific player. She scored 24 points in this one. But Paige scored 9 points had 8 rebounds and 9 assists in her team's win. She also had 4 steals. I just love her game. She distributed instead of scoring as she took only 6 shots.

And one particular highlight on a steal and a drive to the basket

And another UConn 2020 Recruit gets an accolade!! Aaliya Edwards averaged 23 points, 15 rebounds and 2 steals per game for December.

Image result for stats don't lie

By David in Naples!!!!

There is a minor debate going about who should be the 5th starter, Anna or Kyla. Just when one of those two players seems to be making the case to start, the other one plays a great game. Two games ago, Kyla took 1 shot, had 1 rebound, 0 assists and 2 turnovers. In the same game, Anna scored 8 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, had 2 assists and pilfered 2 steals. Start Anna said the fans...

Sunday, Kyla scored a career high 14 points on 5-5 shooting, including 4-4 from three-point range. She added 7 assists and 2 steals in a 30 great minutes. Anna had a decent night, 6 points and 5 rebounds, but Kyla was spectacular and earned high praise from Geno. Start Kyla the crowd whispered...

Interestingly, Kyla and Anna both average 21 minutes per game. Together, they could play 40 minutes as the 5th starter. Just start each for two alternating quarters. Problem solved. What would the stats be for this combined 5th starter?

Points - 108 total points or 9 points per game.
Rebounds - 90 total or 7.5 per game.
Shooting - 46.4% on 39-84 from the field.
3 pt shooting - 43% on 25-58 from beyond the arc. Take out Anna's cold 0-11 start and the % goes up to 53%.
Assists - This is where it gets good. 59 total assists, more than team leader Crystal (44).

Kyla is the better shooter and Anna is tops in rebounds & steals. They are even in assists and energy on the court. The perfect 5th starter..!!

Go Huskies..!!
