A great night out with my granddaughters Noa and Mya.
We went to Key Lime House in Lake Worth for dinner. It was awesome!!
Wasn't this game fun? The Huskies put a hurting on East Carolina 98-42 behind sophomore Christyn Wiliams and freshman Anna Makurat.
It was no surprise as East Carolina is not a very good team. In fact, they are really bad. But it was a surprise when they were right there with UConn, tied 11-11 with 4:18 remaining in the first quarter.
But from that point on, UConn was in full flight, getting easy fast break baskets off turnovers, missed shots and breaking the Pirates press. While East Carolina did turn UConn over 21 times due to their full court pressure defense, UConn broke the press many times for easy baskets.
The Huskies were able to shoot 59.7% from the field and a tidy 60% on threes. Fantastic numbers.
Here is a quick player breakdown.
I'd have to make Christyn Williams and Anna Makurat Co-Players of the game. In their own ways they were just fantastic in this game.
Williams did it from both inside and outside. She scored 25 points and was 11-17 from the field and 3-5 on threes. She added 5 rebounds and 4 assists. I loved her aggressiveness, taking the ball to the hoop without fear and really effectively.
Anna was the true Polish Rifle going 8-10 from long distance for her 24 points. At one point she he eight three point shots in a row. Amazing. She is now shooting 43% on threes. It's worth repeating. She started the season 0-11. She has shot 34-68 since then. That's 50%!!!!
Another good game for the other freshman on the team, Aubrey Griffin. She had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks. She sure can fill up a stats sheet.

Megan Walker was still off a little with her shot, but she still had a double double before halftime. For the game she was 2-5 on threes, not too bad. She ended up with 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. So, I've been off a little lately on my predictions and I'm pretty bummed about it. I did really well last season, but with this team? Not so good.
But I'm proud of myself with the last two games.
For the Tennessee game -
My prediction? The rims won't be that kind and Tennessee will play inspired basketball.
However, the score will be....
UConn by 12+.
And the East Carolina game -
I'm looking at a 50+ point win.
I'm hoping UConn becomes more and more consistent and hopefully so will I!!!
But I'm proud of myself with the last two games.

By far the strangest stat in today’s wipeout of East Carolina was the fact that 3 Pirate starters failed to score. They went a combined 0-11 and missed their only free throw. The other two starters scored 27 points.Talk about lousy production. Squeaks had 26 all by herself.
Another interesting stat is that East Carolina took an amazing 70 shots. (UConn took 62.). They missed 52 of those tries for a 26% accuracy rate. UConn shot 59.7% overall, but 60% from outside the three point arc. The Huskies also grabbed an amazing 52 rebounds..!!
Anna Makurat missed her first and last three point try of the game. In between, she went 8-8 for 24 points. Add in 4 boards, 2 assists and 2 steals and the Polish Sniper had quite a game. (Ignore the 5 turnovers.)
